When you'll hear back
We reply within 2 business days.

If your question is about a particular issue, include your store's myshopify.com address and the order number or the issue's title, so we can find it quickly. Please leave out your customers' names and contact details.

02Is it read-only?

Yes. The app asks Shopify only for permission to read, never to write. It cannot change your products, orders, inventory, discounts, prices or settings. It shows you what doesn't add up; you decide what to do and make any change in Shopify yourself.

03What does it read from my store?

Your orders, refunds and payment transactions, products and their costs, inventory, returns, discounts and location names. If you turn on payout checks, it also reads your Shopify Payments balance and payouts. It never asks for your customer list or your staff accounts.

The privacy policy lists every permission the app asks for and what each one is used for.

04Why does an issue say “Estimated”?

Every amount is labeled with how we worked it out:

Exact
Taken directly from Shopify records.
Calculated
Calculated from Shopify records and your recorded costs.
Estimated
Estimated from your cost models or assumptions.
Potential exposure
The most that could be affected; the actual amount may be lower.

Shopify records what your customers paid, but not everything an order cost you. For costs Shopify doesn't have, such as what shipping and packing cost you, or fees from payment providers that don't report them to Shopify, we use the costs you set in the app. Amounts that depend on those settings, or on a product with no cost recorded, are labeled Estimated.

To make them more accurate, check Your costs and Payment fees under Settings, and import your product costs under Settings > Product costs.

05What does “How sure we are” mean?

Every issue shows how sure we are that it needs your attention, from most to least certain:

Confirmed
Shopify's own records don't add up. The amount is exact.
Very likely
Strong evidence from your Shopify records and settings.
Possible
Good evidence, but part of the amount is estimated or needs a quick check.
Worth a look
Unusual compared with your store's normal activity. There may be a good reason.
For your info
Low certainty or already explained by one of your policies.

Only Confirmed means Shopify's own records don't add up. The other levels are potential exposure or information for you to check, and there may be a good reason behind them.

06Why is something I did on purpose flagged?

We compare what happened in your store with what usually should happen, and we can't know your store's own rules until you tell us. If it was a one-off, open the issue and set its status to Not an issue.

If your store does it on purpose regularly, such as free shipping over a set amount or staff discounts on top of a promotion, add a policy under Settings > Policies. Matching activity is then marked as expected (For your info) instead of potential exposure. Nothing is hidden, so you can always see what a policy covers. Many issues suggest a policy for you, and you can save it in the same step as setting the status.

07How far back does it look?

As far back as Shopify lets it read. By default Shopify gives apps about the last 60 days of orders, so your first scan covers that period. Once Shopify approves the app for access to older orders, it reads up to a year of history.

After the first scan, the app keeps up with new orders, refunds and payments as Shopify reports them. The Overview shows how complete the check is.

08Does it store customer data?

No. The app does not store your customers' names, email addresses, phone numbers or street addresses, and it doesn't ask Shopify for them. For each order it keeps the financial facts (amounts, products, dates and statuses) and only the country and province it shipped to.

Some fields are typed by people, such as refund notes and discount codes. The privacy policy explains how we handle them and lists everything else the app keeps.

09How do I turn on payout checks?

Payout checks are optional, and they apply only if you use Shopify Payments. In the app, open Setup and choose Grant access next to Shopify Payments payouts. You can also do it later under Settings > Data access.

Shopify then asks you to approve read-only access to your Shopify Payments balance and payouts. The app uses it to match each payout with the orders, refunds and fees behind it.

10How do I cancel or uninstall?

To stop using Adds Up, uninstall it from the apps list in your Shopify admin. Your Shopify access token is deleted right away. Everything else is deleted 48 hours later, when Shopify sends the shop redaction notice, and can't be recovered after that. If you reinstall before then, your history is still there. The privacy policy has the details, and if you want your data deleted sooner, email dev@watacle.com.

To stop paying but keep the app, open Plan in the app and choose Switch to free. Shopify credits the unused part of the current period. The terms of service cover plans and billing in full.

11How is it priced?

The pricing page lists the current plans and what each one includes. If you're not sure which plan fits your store, email dev@watacle.com.
